I am switching to a open element air filter. specs:14'' Air Cleaner Assembly 5-1/8'' Carb Flange Diameter
5'' Element Height
14'' Outside Diameter
5-1/8'' Assembly Height

with that I will need a open filter breather. Can anyone tell me what size i need? The push ins I see are 3/8 3/4 and 1 inch and 1 1/4inch OD vent tube. Thanks guys

I'm thinking it'll depend on your valve cover, or more specifically, the size of the rubber grommet IN said valve cover. This is the passenger side cover, yeah?

I'm thinking 3/4" sounds right, at least on my 454, but go look at your grommet to be sure ;)

yup, depends on your grommet size. Some guys run vent lines to a catch can instead so as not to dirty up there valve covers but its your choice. I went with el cheapo brand push in breather.

I was just being sure. Both my 350 and my 454 used 3/4" on that side, but yours may be different.

I bought a push in breather to replace the original metal tube that I think connected to the air cleaner housing. How do I remove the metal tube? I though it was a press fit, but I didn't want pull on it too hard in case it wasn't. Do I have to remove the valve cover?

Run the breath into the bottom of the TB/Carb. Thats a bad place for an open element. Splashing water enters easy there, killed my buddies 318 that way
