Crappy brands

Hi. I recently bought a 78 K5 Blazer. It has a Sherwood head unit and an Optimus equalizer and 4x6 (I think) speakers mounted on the transmission hump. It also has 2 Sony Xplod 6x9s in the rear. Is this head unit and equalizer any good? It doesn't sound that bad, but I think that is because of the good speakers in the back. My friend told me it would sound alot better if the speakers were in the door panels instead of on the tranny hump. Is this true? Do I have room for a 6x9 in each door? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
