I am considering putting a gm crate engine in my 89 blazer, i am not looking for a lot of power just reliability since this is my daily driver and family play toy. I have the usual 4" 35's and 4:56 and the wore out motor pulled it fine. The big question is are these reliable and has anyone had any problems or warranty issues. And Summit seems to have the best price but if a vendor here has them or anyone knows of a better place I am open to suggestions.

Hate to say it, but call your local dealer. Used to be that you could get a *new* (no reman parts) crate motor and you don't pay shipping. Also worth calling around to different Chevy/GMC dealerships. Good warranty, and more important, good parts to begin with.

Back when I got mine prices ranged from like $1500 to $2000 for the identical part, in maybe a twenty mile radius! (This was a few years ago, so they're gonna be more $$ now, but you get the idea.)

The cheapest I found is Summit about $1950 shipped for a "new" one I was more worried about the quality and durability when I take it on a long trip.

I just installed a new GM crate engine for a guy who bought it brand new from Jegs and shipped to my door was 1950.00, same as Summit Racing. These are BRAND NEW GM crate engines with GM's warranty. He could not touch one at the local dealer for under 2500.00
