I keep getting this idea in my head about ford I beams. Lots of guys use them for desert trucks, they cut them up plate them change the angles etc.. This is done with the forged ones and the plate ttb style as well.
I had this nutsoo idea if you took a d44 solid axle cut the inner c and out then build a ford style beam off it why would that not work?
From what I have read the inner C is forged steel so it's easily weld able.
The parts are still available for the brakes ball joints seals etc.. And the best most important is its all Chevy..
Just wondering how dumb that might be?. I have read one thread where the guy modified the ttb outer to accept the Chevy stuff but there was a decent amount of grinding on a cast spindle.. Not sure how great of an idea that would be. Considering if your going to build this most start with ford parts anyway.. Why not start with Chevy.
Thinking out loud.
