I haven't had a good chance to diagnose this yet but here it is. I have had a creeking in my truck for a while now. The specs of my truck are in my sig. I should also add that I have both weld on and bolt on steering box braces and ORD front shackles. This is a creek that happens while turning the steering wheel at slow speeds or at a stop. I finally had a second person to crank the wheel while I checked undernieth the truck but I olny had a few minutes and didn't check any fasteners for being loose. I gave it a visual but can't see any parts moving like they are loose and the steering box is solid. This is a loud creek creek creek that I can't pin point. It resonates through the frame. From the front of the truck it sounds like it could be near the shackles or even the transfer case adapter or crossmember. I go back there and it seems it is coming from the front of the truck. The only clue I have is that the only place I can feel this is on the front axle tube so my first attempt will be check the nouts on the the U bolts for being loose.

Just wondering if anybody has experienced something like this and what did it end up being. Any other sugestions are welcome. I am going to try to dig in to this further in a couple of days.

Turning the wheel puts force on the leafsprings and bushings too....if you've got old rotten bushings in them, that might be what you're hearing.

Sounds like you have a systematic approach.....steering box first, then ubolts and suspension

Check the torque on the spring plates- 150 ft lbs. Take a auto stethescope or wood dowel or screwdriver and hold it to your ear as you place it all over the truck. That will greatly speed up your diagnoses.

I love this forum.
I never thought of it but I recently replaced my rear poly spring eye bushings on my front springs and no I didn't lube them when installed. Likely the problem. Thanks a lot guys. I'll update this when I figure it out.

Just to have a single creek in your truck would make it very wet and it looks like you have 4!
