I have done a bunch of looking around, and cant seem to find what im looking for. What would it take to swap a Crew Cab body onto a K5 frame? Or would it be easier to use a suburban body, and chop the back off? Any input would be great to hear. Kinda think it would be cool to do right now, and if it turns out to be feasible, I will likely do it.

Ive often wondered how much body work would be invovled as well. I think it would be a pretty cool project. Moving the rear axle back a little would probably make it much easier, even if it was just an inch or two.

(mtchevy) shortbed with front/rear streched wheel base. streched via rear springs in front moves axle forward and rear 56" springs installed backwards for 4" moved to rear axle. then rear part of crewcab channeled to frame rails on floor and cab corners modifyed. pic's posted

and (gone huntin) he has a old rotted out burb. swaped on a crew cab and did like a 4ft beed. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250471&highlight=crewcab

my shorty crew cab project STUBBY build. but on hold now. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245582

do the math

blazer 106.5 + 4" rear strech = 110.5 + 4" front strech = 114.5

shortbed 117.5 + 4" rear strech = 121.5 + 4" front strech = 125.5 ( mtchevy )

the ideal setup burban frame or cut down crew frame rails. if you read my build to the point of going short its easy . i removed the crossmember for the 2-piece drive shaft carrier bearing. then the holes lined up perfect for front hangers new position. this got me 128" wheel base. but i flipped the springs end for end 56" and got 132" wheel base. all bolts up perfect. then used 2wd hangers for front spring position on the rear for home brew flip.

pic#1 = 8ft box crewcab frame bare nothin on the back. can see white chalk outlines of the stock hanger positions.
pic#2 = crossmember for carrier bearing of driveshaft. ( its a stock flat 1ton tranny/tcase crossmember upside down )
pic#3 = front hanger mooooved up the frame to the holes from the removed crossmember.
pic#4 = bottom 2 holes lined up to crossmember holes . checked with tape measure 2x its 132" both sides center to center checking off the front/front spring eye.
pic#5 = home brew flip with 7" diy4x shackles. and can see outline of the orignal front hanger location. its a lot shorter. loped off 40" of frame rail in the back. now have 4ft6" from back of cab to tip of frame rails.
