Man I want to do that so bad. that is absolutely gorgeous. do have more pics of the build up to post? maybe write a "how too"? Because that is killer. best of both worlds. you can bring budds, and still have a place to put all your chit.

Thats cool as hell I always kind of wondered though. What would a crewcab on a blazer frame look like. Course I never thought about rear fenderwells. I was just thinking that the back of the cab would be the back of the truck. Guess it would look kinda stupid. Course you could use the back six inches of frame for storage. (air equipment welding stuff extra gas tires.

my wheelbase is lengthened around 8 inches. I measured a crewcab and it is still too long to fit between our wheels. One would have to cut into the rear doors and maybe tub. There would be virtually zero room for a bed. Maybe a winch and a spare / hilift. Would be cool with a roof rack too.
Could it be done? Sure! The cool factor would be very high also.:D

i got a buddy that did that with a ford if i thought i wouldn't get shunned i would post pics of it

i wouldn't mind seeing the ford. we shouldn't be mean to those who aren't fortunate enough to have a chevy or two. we should take pity on them and help them come to their senses.

if no one objects i will go get pics of the ford and post them he is a good fabricator and it looks real good 14 inches with 39 inch boggers
but yes it is still just a 4 letter f word :haha:

i have a blazer frame that i sat a single cab truck cab on and have been thinking about cutting down a bed like that and make a extreamly short short bed i like the short wheel base of the blazer but i am getting bored with the blazers as i have built two of them for off road and have destroyed one of them probably after my current blazer gets tore up to bad i will build the short short bed if any one wants to see the truck cab on the blazer frame i can get pics to

A friend of mine put a single cab on his blazer frame and built a custom flatbed for the rear of the frame, his flatbed is big enough for his 2 quads and gear. Also integrated a fifth-wheel hitch into it for his trailers. Looks bitchen, built overkill too. D60/14b/383 stroker/locked front and rear, on and on..... (he owns his own 4wheel shop....)

I don't have any more pics of the build up - it was really a simple swap & drop. The 2 main concerns that I ran in to with the SWB frame is where the frame "ramps" up for the box in the back. I had to notch the floor there and actually have the frame come about 3" into the floor of the cab. Also, re the "dent" in the frame for the pass. rear shock interefered with where the rear body mount is at, I had to just put the puck elsewhere and drill the bolt thru the body & top of the frame.

Sounds like it'd be better to use a longbed frame or shop a 1 ton frame down. Mine didn't pass smog:doah: so I might be swapping it onto a diesel longbed.

I just went and took a bunch of pictures....

Rear Passenger body mount
Due to the clearance of the shock, the factory body mount would not work. The body puck is just sandwiched between the frame and the body with a bolt coming through.

Middle body mount
Rear angle (looking forward) on the middle body mount, showing again the body being notched for the frame.

Middle body mount
Front angle (looking back) notice the body is "notched" so the frame can run into it. This keeps the body level. The body mount puck is a standard (0 lift) puck.

Front body mount
This is a 3" body lift puck in the front

Clearly the box is not "finished". The fuel tank is a 40 gallon suburban tank mounted high in the frame for axle clearance. Once complete I will use the remaining box floor to build a "shelf" above the tank so i can use more of my box.

Ideally you would have the time & resources to just chop a crew cab frame down in the back.... but I had neither. I even had the frame but lacked the tools, time and $ to pull it off

Next best idea would be to take a suburban, ditch the body, put the cab on, and chop the frame to fit the box length & wheelbase you want.

Really very cool work!!!

You of course are going to have to do something about the rear seat! Your passengers, or more importantly your wife's dog, must be able to travel in complete non threadbare comfort.:haha:

Bump to the top to update with more pix:

I gutted the interior again, and Herculined the tub. That sh*t is potent, and stout!

I ran out of Herculiner, but I plan on doing the top half/ceiling of the interior. I only had enough to do the bottom half.
