Crew Cab Weight...

Our local scale must be out of whack. All my junk weighs about a grand more than comparable rigs on here.

I was thinking the saem thing.

1991 V-3500 Crew cab, 454/4L80e/205 srw, 4x4, completly stock. 1/2 tank of fuel in one tank, second tank empty, no people = 6560 lbs

1975 K5 trail rig 1-tons, 42's, Caddy 500, t-400, 203/205 doubler, has most of its sheetmetal & Wieght was with top & doors, 1/4 tank of fuel, no people, no trail gear or tools = 6540 lbs

Average car hauler w/ spare tire, chain box with chains, boomers, & some straps, ramps under deck = 2360lbs

Blazer will go on a diet sometime this summer. Goal is to get under 5000#.

This picture the k5 does not have its top & doors, & the crew cab has alum wheels. The day I wieghed them at the local CAT scale, the k5 was dressed & the crew cab had stock steels & hubcaps.

Boz, I'm betting your weights are right... My crew didn't have the 60 under it anymore, not sure if the 4l80 weighs more than a t400... But mine was bare minumum...

On the K5, top, doors, rear gate with glass will shed a lot of weight... Then all the extra interior stuff and sheet metal, except just minimal skins, made a big difference...

According to GM a crew cab 4x4 (K30) has a curb weight of 5399 lbs. There is a plus or minus of 50 lbs according the GM document I am reading.

I am not sure but curb weight does not include the 40 gallons of fuel one of these can hold. Not sure if it includes any fluid other places but I know it doesn't include gasoline.

They say model weight is 6299, model weight is standard seating capacity x 6 (for the crew cab models)

According to the specs I am pretty sure they weigh it with base model equipment and it states base model equipment is a 6.2 diesel so close to big block weight. Standard trans is a 465 with a 205

I can't find numbers for a dually model but I assume curb weight would be about 300 lbs more overall

oh ya it does by a lot.

over drive section and lockup convortor . those there add a lot of beef.

Every commercial scale should be 99% accurate, since it's law. The Department of Weights and Measures come out once a year with their truck and check my 70ft scale to make sure it's accurate. There is only a 100lb tolerance, anymore and it gets red tagged and is closed for commercial use until it's re calibrated. If it passes the scale gets a seal for the current year from W&M. You can ask to see that their W&M seal is current when you get weighed if you question your weight. It's the same small seal that you see on most gas pumps.
