I have a 86 crewcab 1 ton that is an ex military truck. The weird thing is that is solid olive drab green no camo. I want to redo the bodywork and repaint it od green. Does anyone have a source for this paint and a spec. Also how good is that paint because it has no clear will it absorb water like primer does. I would hate to redo the truck And have it start rusting again because of paint.

Check out Du-pont or PPG for paint codes. Also, you can get matte clear coat and as long as you seal your filler primer the metal will be sealed from the elements.

For the most part, trucks that stayed here were straight OD, NATO trucks that went overseas were camo, and trucks that went to the middle east are tan. Check out RAPCO for good paint

There were no crewcab CUCV's. It's just a civilian market vehicle purchased for use by the military in non-combat related roles. I used several when I was in the Marines.

Why it was painted OD green is debatable and even if the military did it. Hard to say though. The military hasn't painted vehicles OD green in years though. Now everything is some variant of CARC and has been for years. It's an excellent paint but is carcinogenic, not cheap, and you better know what you are doing when you apply it for health and good results.

Plenty of stateside CUCV's got the NATO forest camo scheme also.
