well i got some suburban doors and my bent up metal for joing the 2 roofs together. and got some front buckets and a center console. now i got to join the floor.

I think its cool that your wiling to do a project like that, but man that looks like an aweful lot of work. Wouldnt it be cheaper to jus by a suburban. :D
 
alot easier, but i wanted to powder coat the frame and run a turbo 502, longer springs. so i needed a frame off project, so i thought why not make the project a real challange. plus it will use the trucks longer front doors on the rear instead of the suburbans short rear doors. and it will have about a 2 inch space between the doors so the people in back will have about as much room as a new dodge mega cab. i have never done anything like this, so i thought it might help me learn how to do body work anyway.

I think thats a bitchen project you got going there. I allways wished GM made a crew of those years. thought about the same kind of project before but space is a must with a project like that. a two car garage full of tools and equipment aint gonna work. good luck and keep us posted with pics.

I have a clean 70' 3/4 ton custom camper special long bed, factory big block truck that has a 396 out of a chevelle in it, TH400 trans. factory wood bed, factory AC, factory gage cluster with tach, Dana 60 rear with 4:56's. I had a 69' short bed before too. I love 67'-72' chevy trucks.

I have fallen in love... that is B E A utiful!!! I wonder if there is anyone out there making a door kit for the normally closed 4th door. Or would that work have to be full custom stuff?

Sweet idea you have going with the extended rear doors! I can't wait to see it completed! Please keep posting the progress pictures!
 
i know a guy that runs a sheet metal shop and has a break with interchangable dies and he has many different dies. and we found one exaclty what gm used. and on the rear doors im using, im not extending the fatory truck front doors. just sqauring up the window area.
 
i will be taking the long bed and cutting about 20 inches from the front of the bed, and pretty much bobbing the rear.
 
What year is that finished crew cab? that thing is freaking sweet. And was it a crew cab or is it a suburban body with a truck bed????????

I don't know what year it is... BUT... I do believe that they NEVER made a crew cab in the 1st gen... is that true 1st Gen Guru's?
 
Well after looking at the pics of that truck i am thinking about finding a sub body of that year and cutting the back off like i did to my 84 sub but i like that body style more
 
I really like that idea. The only thing that I don't like is that the subs only had 3 doors... So I am wondering if there is any company out there producing a drivers side rear door 'kit' that can be retrofit into the subs.

If there is... I am really considering doing the same thing and taking a bunch of my current parts and pieces and putting them towards that project.

Just what I need. A new direction with a new project... LOL
