If ya don't mind, I would like to hear your thoughts on my ladder bars.
Some of yall remember a while back I bent my rear springs from axle wrap. I think this will do the trick.

Bars are 1.5" x.250 wall DOM tube.
I used poly bushings at the axle end and a Rubicon Express joint at the shackle end.

Here are some pics:

Still have to finish up some things here and there, but this is basically it.
So, let's hear it. Thanks.

looks pretty good to me. Should stop axle wrap pretty well, only issue will be if it binds. What do you have for a rear suspension? Looks like some serious springs. Customs? Length of it and all I'd be interested in seeing it in action but wouldn't expect binding. What is the upper truss mount made of? Looks thin in the pictures.

Thanks Sled.

The axle truss is 2" x .120 wall HREW.

The Xmember is 1.5"x.120 HREW.

I'm thinking with the shackle plus the RE Joint, it shouldn't bind, but I guess I'll find out this sunday.

The springs are Alcans with ORD specs.
They have an extremely soft rating, 150lbs, a bit too soft for my liking, but they flex like a mofo.
They are ~ 59" long.

Yes. I purchased it from Fox over a year ago and finally got around to putting it to good use. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I meant the plate for the upper mount. The truss looks pretty good. I was thinking the samething about the shackle and johnny after I posted, I wouldn't expect binding.

The bungee cord looks top notch /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

j/k...dunno much about ladder bars but that is some spiffy fabrication you did there.

Oh, that is 1/4" thick Angle iron.
3x4 or 5" if I remember right. I know it's hard to tell in the pic, but it's plenty thick /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

LOL. I was meaning to say, the bungee cord is to hold down my truck cover.

From my minor fab. knownledge, it looks like it will work /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Very good work on that /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

The Contrast of the red transfer case and alabama chrome diff cover is quite bold. I especially like the red bumpstop accents.

Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions here but I will digress and asume this is the finished product.

I find the modern deconstructionism with the rusty tube just clashes with the black axle tube. I just don't folow the look you were going for. If your going for the deconstructionist look then might I sugest that you strip the paint and give it a salt wash to get the rust going and make it flow evenly. Maybe some subtle contrast accents like leaving the polished johnny joint and clean brake rotors.

Perhaps others will disagree but that is my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I will be shamelessly copying your setup someday. It looks good to me!

As a side benefit, iooks like the crossmember will act sorta like a rear driveshaft hoop in the event of a failure at the T-case end of the shaft. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif Kinda nice to know you won't be doing the rear-pirouette pole vault if it happens at speed...

Bahahah... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
Yeah, I'm going for the rust look.
Actually, I still have a few welds to finish up. It got so dark lastnight I couldn't see where I was going...
Oh, btw, Diff cover is painted silver...no chrome here /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I'll see you in Tellico sometime this year when you southern boys are ready /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

84, I do not know if it binds or not. I'm assuming no, but I'll let you know on Monday after I take it out...

Yunit, see you sunday.

Thanks again all...I'll let yall know how it goes as well.
