Are you welding with fluc core or solid wire (gas)?

I think he said flux core, typical splatter of flux core welds too. and they look jusy like i said earlier in my post... cant get the welds to penetrate fer crap! It all got soooo much better when i switched to gas.

If you must weld with flux core, get some of that anti-splatter spray. it helps knock off those BB's when your done.

As for a bead on flat plate, you can tell plenty from that. A tall weld profile indictes not enough heat.
