i finished my cross over steering today and it is a nice night and day difference.
but, now i have a wobble in the steering that i did not have before
it has all new components
ball joints tie rod ends
steering box with frame brace
but i do not have a steering stabilizer and i did not have one before
i am also running 1/8" toe in
the wobble is not bad and seems to be when i step on the brakes and happens around 45 MPH
any thoughts would be great help

Are the wheel to wheel tie rod ends in good shape too?

the rotors are not warped if that was the case i would have brake pulsation at all speeds but thanks
and the wheel to wheel tie rods were new a couple years ago and felt good when i reused them this time but i guess they could wear out enough to do it i was just hoping it was something else cause it didnt do it before the cross over
but maybe since everything else is new now its a problem thanks

Yeah, I've driven mine without a stabilizer and all was fine. Then put hydro assist on.

1/8" toe sounds good

just gotta start going back over everything, not sure if a warped rotor would be felt more after the conversion, that would be weird.

How long ago did you do crossover? Check torque specs on all the stuff, maybe something seated or loosened

The wobble only happening when you apply the brakes at 45 and above, does it stop the second you you take your foot off?

Have you checked to see if the wheel bearings are worn or not tightened enough?

What is new in the new system vs. old?

i just did it today
and was just looking up new ends but that itself is going to be a chore cause im not sure the year the axle came off of

I'm thinking warped rotor also. It's very hard to feel a brake pulsation through the stock push/pull steering which is prob why you didn't feel it before. Now that you have x-over it is transmitted directly to the pitman arm and steering box. It's also normal for brake pulsation to be felt more severely at higher speeds.

it does not do it at 60 MPH or higher

A worn out spindle bearing can cause that too. IT happened to me on a fairly hard stop from about 45 MPH. Scared the poo out of me.

I just experienced my first case of extreme death wobble today.
A little I can handle but this scared the poo out of me.

I have been driving it for years now.

I decided to swap a Dana 60 in and do cross over steering.
everything went great.
the 60 was gone through. It has had every seal, bearing, gasket, everything is tight.
all new tie rod ends, steering arm, steering box, everything.
I even took time to strengthen the frame rail under the steering box.

now at 35-40 it shakes like it is going to come apart.

I have went over every bolt again. everything is tight.
I had about 1/8 toe so I moved that up to 1/4, no change.

any ideas?
thanks

thats a tough one if it goes away at higher speed i might try tire rotation and do you have steering stabilizers

Condition of the Kingpins? ACTUAL condition, not what someone said. Springs and nylon cones too. My Kingpins were pretty good, so I put new nylon cones in and springless caps. Done
