I have 52" springs in front of my 74 with the cross over steering and I'm using 7'' shankles. When I turn the wheel it wants to push the axle side to side, the shackles seem to move a lot! I am still using the old rubber bushing in the springs and in the frame mounts, would this be the cause of my problem? would new poly ones cure it?

where they the original rubber bushings? if so, i bet they are shot. time for some new poly ones.

The bushings are part of the problem. Best bet though would be to cross tie the shackles. Make them into an H. This will prevent alot of side to side movement...

Also you better have a steering box brace on with crossover...
