Cross over steering

On the hunt for a 2 wheel drive box now. If.... strong word.... I understand that as long as I stick with same year model (1990 any 2 wheel drive from a tuck should bolt up the same. I was able to find one from a 1994 Suburban for $65. Is there a date range that will?
I ordered a brand new box from rockauto. I think I searched an 84 c10. Bolted right up to the frame. No issues. I think it was in the $200 neighborhood.

Once I upgrade to hydro assist, ill probably upgrade to a PSC box. But they are bookoo bucks.

Thanks Chevy350Ben - looks like I am going the Redhead path - For what it cost for a salvage year ($80-$120 & rebuild Kit $100) a base model isn't much more expensive. And to add they will drill/tap for hydro for $110, removing the cost for nice bit/tap and risk of me jacking it up. I think this is easy button!

Just a couple comments to address some of the other posts:

- From my experience cross-over does not provide easier steering or more "assist" in regards to being able to turn larger tires easier. If you look at the geometry it does not provide greater leverage......keep in mind that if it had greater leverage than you would probably start losing steering radius. When I went to cross-over I felt the steering was actually heavier, and a buddy on a K5 with 44's said the same thing on his.

- On flat ground it does not improve, or shorten, the steering radius. It does help this when crossed up because with push pull steering you can only turn in one direction.
