Hey y'all,

I'm working out my custom crossmember/tranny mount and wondering what you think of this idea. I'm planning to hardmount my transmission and t-case to a single custom bracket that will then bolt onto the crossmember. Instead of the normal rubber cushion right on the tranny mount, I'll then sandwich the ends of the crossmember in body mount rubber where it bolts under the frame rail.

The reason for doing this is that, as someone else already pointed out, is that with custom mounts along the driveline, each unit experiences a different amount of torque and flex and theoretically should require carefully placed and varying thicknesses/softness of rubber mounts in order to make sure that the whole drivetrain flexes together under torque. This avoids the whole problem (I think). I guess to make it perfect the engine would have to then be mounted the same way (cushions out on the frame rail), but whatever.

What are the potential issues with this idea?

ever come up with something for this?

I'm starting to explore x-member/mount ideas and was think of using a dual bushing config.... 2 at the adapter to x-member, then 2 for x-member to frame...

Ive seen a few crossmembers built similar to what youre describing. The only issue Ive heard of is the adapter to x member mount bolts breaking. But if you use grade 8 stuff I cant see how that would be an issue.
