Found out one of the mounting bolts that holds my transfer case to the crossmember is stripped. It was a 3/8" bolt, if I tap it out to 1/2 is that enough thread contact area (1/16 on the thread), or should I try for something like 9/16"?

I thought that all of them had the big 1/2 or 9/16" bolts anyway. You are talking about the bolt that goes through the rubber mount into the bottom of the adapter aren't you? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

drill it out to 1/2" and then tap it to 5/8". The rule of thumb is to tap it 2 sizes bigger than its drilled out to be.

My x-member bolts that hold the adapter to the x-member are 1/2" bolts...I think they are like 3 or 3-1/2" long...I would go at least to a 1/2" or even a 9/16"...
