For crossover steering on GM fullsize with a 10 bolt front, you can run the factory driver side knuckle and aftermarket passengerside correct? To run a dana 44 flattop knuckle on the passenger side , you would have to be running a driver side dana 44 knuckle because of the tie rod difference correct?

Essentially the answer is yes but there are ways around. There are tapered bushings you can get to change the direction of the taper in your knuckle. You have to drill out the hole and weld in the bushing and can change either knuckle.

The other option is to drill out both knuckles and run heim joints. I dont recommend this, especially if you drive on pavement.

I just grabbed both knuckles. Seemed easier to just get a matching set from the same truck.

If you get a Reid Racing knuckle, they can be tapered from either direction and that way you can buy just the passenger side knuckle. If you find older D44 knuckles and machine the passenger side one, you'll need both as the tie rod end taper is reamed from the top vs. the bottom on your 10 bolt.

Well, that answers that. So I can buy one new knuckle from, lets say.... I dunno... ORD, along with the new steering arm for the top of the knuckle and a drag link with ends... and that's it?

Aside from the 2wd steering box of course... and maybe hydro assist...

Gonna hafta check the website for prices as I'm looking into doing that upgrade this year.

tappered insert :)
it's cheaper than buying the driver side knuckle from a junkyard, even if it's a 50% off sale day. When I see a flat top passenger knuckle, I don't bother getting the driver side. The shipping goes up, my time pulling it goes up, some yards will charge extra for the steering arm attached to the knuckle, and finally buying a second knuckle.

It doesn't make sense for me, since it's not for me. Also, be aware, you will need to run the older tierod so there is no leaf spring clearance issues. The older tierod drops down at each end to clear the leaf springs. If you don't do this, there is a good chance of problems, especially if you use an HD tierod. Zero Rates help here, but then you have draglink/ spring issues.

Anyone running the offroad unlimited knuckle?

They work awesome for taller trucks, we sell them when we can get them but I think it's been almost two years since they were available.

I'll have to check again on Monday to see if there's any word on those.
