Kinda variant in the wagonneer thread...

Take a ford High pinion D44, Would it be possible to use the knuckles from a chevy except they are on opposite sides. Therefore, the knuckle that has been drilled for an arm would be on the side required for crossover. Now you could get a Raised steering arm for a chevy, and then make/buy the draglink required.

My thought was that it would work, but you'd need a HP axle because the tie rod would hit where the pinion would be...

Any input?

Would mess with the ball joints. The knuckle is designed to be used at said angle, you would be reversing that angle screwing up the geometry.

the real problem is not the balljoints. its getting an arm for the NOW passenger side knuckle, your backwards driver side. a standard raised arm will not work. its designed for push pull steering. making a custom arm will be expensive and not that strong since the thinnest part of the arm will be right in the middle.

flat top knuckles are not that hard to find.

so its just to get the tierod behind the axle then?

run some bigger tires and don't worry about the tierod hitting rocks. :D

its going on 39.5s :P

We build stuff for mud by the way...

we are tryign to figure out how to do his steering, more than likely just traditional crossover...
