I have NWFs set up and can't seem to adjust the draglink correctly. You guys who are running non hydro assist crossover able to turn lock to lock? Seems it worked better right after being put on. Maybe my pump is getting weak. I have modded my pump. When jacked up it'll go lock to lock. sitting on the ground it won't. I get as much left turn out of it now as I did with push pull set up- very little. I'm very concious of the adjustment as I have all ready broken one sector shaft. I've read of the ways you guys have set these up and I have done the same. Just wondering about your results and how happy you are with the whole crossover thing. Any heads up on adjustment would be great.

I did turn the wheels back and forth lots of times when I replaced the gear box. Might try it again though.

BTW I should mention this is on a 60.

Took me a long time to bleed my box and pump. Then I found the directions for bleeding in the box that the steering box came in and that helped a lot. I get full lock to lock on the ground, just have a little crossmember interference.

How did you break your sector shaft? I'd like some details on that to avoid the same situation.

I must have got lucky. I used ORD crosssover steering, Im able to turn lock to lock. It turns tighter and is way easier to turn than the oem set up. had to top off the pump a couple times. I used redline oil. Used new gm box and napa pump. How did you break the sector shaft?

What size tires are you running?

I know before I put my hydro assist on (and even after but before I realized my AGR box was a paperweight) I couldn't turn it lock to lock with my 38.5" tires on the ground. I could with the front end on jack stands, but not on the ground

Once I got the hydro assist in and a good working box in, I can turn it lock to lock with both tires on the ground, aired down and the hubs locked (welded front) in with 1 finger turning the steering wheel.

I pieced together my crossover set up and I'm not getting lock to lock on my axle while my steering box is maxed out. I need either a shorter steering arm or a longer pitman arm. I haven't been able to find the preferred Ford van or jeep Cherokee pitman arm.

Thanks for that link. I think I have air in the system still cuz at one point I had spillage outta the neck of the pump and tiny bubbles in it. After it threw up fluid it never registered low on the pump dipstick. That seems odd.

Broke Sector Shaft. All I can tell you with certainty is what happened when it broke. I set the crossover up being concious of the box not maxing out before the lock stops. As the day of riding went on (mudding/trails) I noticed something different about the steering. Me and boz42 inspected it all at one point but saw nothing. Kept riding and as I was trying to avoid dropping into some 4' deep ruts (not going very fast at all) I had the wheels turned hard left. Next thing I knew the front slid right and fell into the ruts while I had it turned left. I threw it in reverse and turned the wheels and nothing. I look out the window and the wheels are straight ahead as i spin the steering wheel. The ruts forced the wheels to go straight as they fell into them. Here's the breakage. Now, with the wheels straight I have painted a white line on the box, shaft and pitman arm to ensure nothing gets twisted out on the trails. If the line doesn't line up with the tires straight that means the sector shaft is getting twisted again.

FYI I have 36" tires under a 1 ton K5.

Sounds like you really jammed it and put some crazy pressure on that shaft. Looks like you are a great candidate for hydro assist! Nice break by the way!

I been thinking about that arm, my budget is tight right now because of high gas prices, $6000 credit card debt, and lack of overtime. It is cheaper for me to find that same arm in the junk yard (I been looking but there are where no wagoneers) for 15 to 20 bucks and ream it with my reamer.
