crossover steering pitman arm

The Superlift #1104 is specifically for the '76-'79 F150 4x4.

Also the '80 (and I'm sure other years) 4WD Jeep J10. The Jeep Sector shaft also fits into the Chevy box. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207350

gentlemen, we're all in the boat together.haha. that superlift part number says it fits Jeep J10/20 and wagoneers/cherokees. i thought that was a ford number. thanks.
One other thing everyone needs to remember when trying to locate a pitman arm off the right year vehicle, etc. is the splines at the shaft end.
I read somewhere the splines on the Jeeps are different than the Fords. Something like the indexing splines are a little offset than the Fords. Where the Fords have the 4 indexing wider slots in a "+" pattern, the Jeeps have them in an "x" pattern. Putting a Jeep arm on a GM box will result in your pitman arm pointing at a wrong angle.

^^This information is incorrect.

The 2wd Chevy sector shaft and the J10 sector shaft have the 4 slots in the same place. Superlift's catalog lists the 1104 pitman arm for the 80 J10.

Does Superlift, or any other lift manufacturer, offer more than one part number for Jeeps on pitman arms?
I wasn't referring specifically to the J-series trucks but rather ALL Jeep prospects.
Check those out.

Even though Superlift may list #1104 to fit the J10, it may fit ONLY that specific year Jeep.
Other Jeeps, like CJ's, etc., may use a different arm and indexed as I quoted above.

I can't help you on the CJs. I only have FSJ stuff here and even that is limited. But I would be willing to bet the steering boxes from all the '70s & '80 (AMC era) FSJs are the same/similar. Let us know if you find any more info on this.

Wes I did some searching through an old catlog. There are at least 6 different types of CJ pitman arms.

Yeah, I figured at least 3 different types but not 6. Still learning something new every day. I'm gonna bet more than one of those Jeep arms have the indexing splines as I described above.

I know what you mean. Some years had two different ones depending on manual or power steering. At least according to the Skyjacker & Superlift catalogs I have here.

I'm gonna bet more than one of those Jeep arms have the indexing splines as I described above.

Probably

I guess it fits 80-ish Broncos & F150s, too. Either way that's what you need and it works fine. I got mine from Jason at CCOR. They have a link in the vendor page on here. The DL is an old Rockstomper.

What length and drop is your pitman arm? I cannot get mine to turn to the stops with my setup. Thanks, Wayne

I have a stock waggy pitman arm in my garage and it has some pretty good drop in it. Have to check it against my superlift arm (1104) BTW its been a long time since I did mine but don't you have to ream it out a bunch to get the one ton tre to fit?
