crossover steering problems

You might have a air pocket in the system some place. It works fine with no load but put a load on it and then it shows up. It might also be a steering box problem. It's really hard to tell you what to do without seeing it in person but I would try to bleed the system more. Hydro assist might fix it but that still doesn't mean the problem does not exist.

I agree with this. Bleed it some more and see if it helps.

I had a bad box once (new reman) that was hard to turn but only one way.

If the box has the power to start to twist the spring I doubt its an air pocket.

Somewhere whether it be in the axle or the body something is getting in that steering linkage, knuckle, or tires way when you turn it with the weight of the truck on the axle.

Sorry been busy i didnt really touch the truck yet. I have to get my camera situation fixed to post any pics.

shorten your draglink tube! i had the same problem....

I would imagine that the draglink is right since the steering is even with no weight on the frontend. I had this same problem but it was because of broken studs that hold the steering arm to the knuckle. When I jacked the front of the truck up, everything worked fine, but when I put it back down, it would barely turn at all. With someone else turning the wheel, I was able to see that the arm was rotating on the knuckle instead of turning it. Everything looked fine though until the steering wheel was turned.

This must be a different problem though because all the components are new. However, any time I have a problem with my truck, I always suspect anything that I've worked on in the past to be (at least part of) the problem. He's doing right by taking everything apart that he's done and looking at it closely. It's going to be frustrating though.

Finally got some time with the blazer. Fixed my problem. Had t shorten my drag link less then a half inch and just readjust it. But i still want hydro assist and a panhard bar. Maybe link the front next year, any ideas

1tunk5 is a wiener!

But I don't get it. How the hell can it be this way? Weight is on the axle, means springs are loaded, mean all steering angles are final (whether on ground or not)
Just cause it hits the ground all-of-a-sudden the draglink is too long?

I'm will be measuring for a D44 setup soon. Its possible to mess this up even with the truck on the ground?

I know i pulled my hair out on this one. I actually remember this from a heep i worked on. And my bros full hydro ramcharger. When i started pulling everything back apart i made a few measurements and was a half inch too long. Fixed it and it works perfect, now i can make a uturn in the street in one turn crazy but works now. I would do a d60 crossover k85 octane, i had the d44 crossover put too much money into it broke alot of stuff also.

unfortunately I already have a lot of money in parts for this D44. Knuckles, machining, posi, gears, u joints, install kit
Had a chance to get a D60 for 800 bucks, but it needed work. That was after I bought everything else too. For what I'm doing, I hope to squeak by with the D44 and some 4340 axles.
:(

Yeah sounds like my old one. 800 sounds too much i think. i got mine from a military lot 800 with 3.56s locker hub to hub and it was never bolted under a truck still in the shipping crate. So there are good deals out there just have to look hard.
