Crossover Steering ?

well I checked ORD website and looks like you're right.... you do have to get 2wd box.... That's funny.... well, sorry guys, I guess I gotta kick myself in the mouth for this. Weird how I didn't notice before and even worse, people explained to me that I wont need 2wd box.
Sorry 73K5Kid for the mix up... You will need the 2wd box, either get one from junkyard or buy from auto parts store.

No problem. I'm just gonna get the kit from WFO.

The 2 wheel drive sector shaft (steering box) is required for crossover...no ifs...ands...or buts...

from the way back machine, sorry guys, but couldn't they make the arm to use your 4wd box?

since the company is suppling the pitman arm...they could machine the splines to fit a 4wd box, but stick the arm out front couldn't they?

a 4wd steering shaft does not have any splines on it. it has a groove cut into for a bolt to lock the arm on with.

aaaaa...but still couldn't they make it for a 4wd box but sticking out forward...looks like since they are machineing parts and supplying the arm, they could make the arm fit a 4wd box 90* out, so arms out front, so no box change would be needed

Years ago, there was somebody making custom crossover steering arm for a 4wd steering box. I think it became cost prohibited because the 2wd box and matching steering arm are readily available.

could you do it, YES. is it cheaper to swap sector shafts and run an arm that is readily available, YES! there are several different drop arms that work from several different vehicles.

go to a junkyard and get a 2wd sector shaft and the stock steering arm.

DRAGGBODYis right. If you want keep it cheap just machine the top of the right knuckle for the arm, drag link and a droped pitman arm.[ I think SUPERLIFT makes one] Be careful here because sometimes they will hit the frame so bad you can't use it[this was my case] ended up with a modifed xj arm. Depending on your lift, you will be replacing your engine crossmember to allow for the draglink clearance. Oh ya, and at the end of it all , don't think its going to cure the weird steering problems. by doing all that you will be able to steer better in the rocks and tight situations, but don't think it's gonna steer like a Mclaren F-1 we are driving tractors!! just keep that in mind.

i have a d60 going in soon and not going crossover until it goes in, so no need for flat tops, i have 12'' lift so crossmember interference shouldn't be a problem, should it? i will need a passenger side arm and prolly a drop pitman and drop draglink

it will cost you but buying a complete kit from a vendor is the way to go. it will be right and you can complain to someone if its not. I have the ORD kit and not one complaint.
