It's time for crossover on my Bro's K20 and I need to know what to use. Are TRE's better than Heim joints? He wants BTF arms but their shipping is way high . Any other things I need to look at? I assume I want to use ARP studs. Already have a crossover arm just need to build the drag link.

I use tre's on my setup since a tierod end was design to be used in single shear. Where as a heim joint requires a double shear mount to be used properly according to its design. Also, if you break on a trail most any parts store carries the tre's where as unless you carry spares you could be up the creek finding a replacement locally in a timely manner. Id suggest sky manufacturing or wfo concepts as well as our site vendor ord( great guys and service).

Good luck with the new setup he wont soon regret it!

What Txchevy said is pretty much what you need to know.

Heims aren't meant meant to be mounted in single shear, tapered rod ends (i.e. OEM tie rod ends, drag link ends) are designed to be mounted in single shear.

If you drill out the taper in a knuckle to use a heim joint the knuckle will be ruined in short order.

Its the taper in rod ends that allows them to be reliably mounted in single shear.

Spherical rod ends (i.e heim joints) work well as long as they're mounted in double shear.
