ok am getting ready to do a cross over steering on the K5. just for the fact she has no left turning radius. i can turn on a dime to the right but not to the left. was wondering if anyone has done one of these kits?? did it improve greatly? was there any issues on installation?? any info would be a great help. i know i would have to get a 2 wd steering box in order for it to work. thanks ahead of time all :D

I have cross over and feel the setup is far superior. No more bump steer, no loosing the steering during articulation. Much better....BUT

Your turning radius should not be that different from right to left even without the crossover. There is a thread in the garage right now about adjusting your drag link that you should take a look at.

Might give adjustment a try if the only reason you are going to crossover is because you can't turn to the left.

you will need a flat top knuckle for the pass side if you still have 1/2 or 3/4 ton axle front. and some knuckles have tie rod on top or on bottom. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/Dana44crossover.htm so you might need both to match if you have to buy one.

then you will need to ship it to http://www.jnutter.com/index.html for the machine work to be done. he is super and great service time.

then you will need a crossover kit with arm/studs/cones/nuts/pitman arm/drag link/tierod ends. with 8" lift tall springs you might need a tall arm to clear the arch of the springs were the drag link will pass threw. most arms are just flat. here is a raised arm setup http://www.northwestfab.com/d44.html and the std arm dosnt have the lifted portion were the drag link bolts in to the arm.

or if you have a dana 60 its just a bolt in kit.

then swap the 2wd box on and adjust and have fun.

yeah it is just a D60 under it right now. i will check out the post in the garage. i have decent turning to the right but it seems like it takes 40 acres to turn to the left, but i wanted to find out about the cross over steering to and after reading a few articles and from what you all have said looks like that will be my next step. thanks for the info guys and ffor the time to get back to me.

 u trying to show off or do D60's grow like weeds around you? I'll trade you my just D44. The 44 is better, like a 12 gauge over a 20, the smaller number...:D

hahahaha well that depends on which junk yard you go to i would think. i am just trying to get this tank set up for when i start going to Rausch Creek again. want to be able to turn it better there and on the road. peoples eyes tend to get really big when they see it coming at them around a corner. lol

just went through all of this. make sure you get the arms from ord. i got some from blisticks and had all kinds of problems. had to have them redrilled. you know you have to get 2 wheel drive box and drop pitman arm.
