Im going back up to school next week and i am trying to see if i can fix my cruise control myself and i need some help. (5 hours sucks without cruise!!).

Anyways here are some pics:

I Traced the vaccume lines the best i could and they ran to the diaphram circled in red. Everything looks ok but is there any way to test to see if it is good? Also there is a piece of metal attached to the end of the diapram. Is anything supposed to connect to this? I am trying to understand how the cruise controls the throttle but i cant figure it out.

Circled in yellow is a loose piece of linkage i found that im guessing goes into the hole next to the throttle and loops through the holes. Not sure what it does or if it has anything to do with the cruise.

Circled in green is a wire with a plug that is coming off of a red wire that is attached to the solenoid. Where does that go? I cant find a female plug to attach it to.

If anything else looks wrong in the pics or you can help me in any way let me know!!

I checked the switch for the cruise at the brake and it looks to be working fine.

All of the rubber lines are in good shape too so im kind of scratching my head on this one. The cruise did work but stopped about a year and a half ago and im hopeing its not the control switch on the steering column because that dosent look like fun changing out.

Thanks Guys!!

Oh and just for fun here is a recent pic of the truck.

Ive been busy at school so i have kind of lost contact at good ole CK5

The diaphram should have a cable from it (right in the center of the rubber portion, facing the TBI) directly to the throttle body, like the other cables. If

It pulls on the throttle when you set/increase cruise, so if it's not hooked up, obviously it won't work. :)

I believe you can check that the diaphram works by compressing the rubber section and plugging off one of the vacuum lines to the diaphram. I'm not entirely certain this works, or if there needs to be cruise commanded for any internal valving to operate.

If atall possible can someone take a pic and host it somewhere so that i can see it without being a registered user.

Thanks!

K the linkage coming off of the throttle body that is laying near the valve cover is for the cruise it should be attatched to the crusie diaphram. im sure thats all your short and the wire coming off of your coil with the plug on it is for a tach.

The wire I am not sure I yanked mine out less wait for mudding! :D

Alright awsome guys thanks for the help!

One more thing how should i adjust it? And does metal connector on the diaphram have a solid loop or is it open just to slip the linkage in. The reason i ask is mine could possibly be broken.

And when i say adjust the rod that connects to the throttle is adjustable and i think i adjusted it before.

Thanks again guys!

On the style pictured, AFAIK there is no adjustment...the big slot in the end that hooks to the TBI keeps you from running into problems. Later have adjustable holes you put the cable in, your style doesn't.

Not uncommon for the mounting piece on the diaphram to break, but no idea why, unless it is owners that bend it or something?

I looked a while back for a wiring diagram...........couldn't find anything with CC on it. An ideas?

The metal attaching loop was broken on mine, just worn through really. The rod is adjustable. The end piece is threaded onto the rod. Mine seemed fine but didn't work. MrK5 got me a re-con one and now it works fine. Gotta love cruise control!
