With a 5.3L and DBW is the cruise control controlled through the computer? Meaning all I would have to do is get an aftermarket CC turn signal lever or something and have the computer programmed for it?

guys on ls1tech have covered tis a bit .

its in the dbw tach pedel box unit . its just a few wires to hook up .

if I recall 1 guy did it on our older style with factory stick in coloum and he had to do it with relays or something as it switches opposite of our old stuff.

I am going to do t in my 2wd build but havnt got that far yet.

Look through my build thread, I'm pretty sure I covered it there. It is controlled by the PCM. When you are doing your wiring harness you'll see the wires that run it. Just run the wires into the cab and use whatever aftermarket cruise switch you like. I think I have one linked in my thread.
I haven't hooked my cruise up yet, but I did run all the wires so it's just a matter of getting around to it.

Yeah, I think I saw you had a turn signal switch type and a rocker switch type shown. That's what got me wondering. I just didn't want to ask on your thread when it's was pretty far back in pages.

You can ask whatever you like in my thread, especially if you want to be sure I'll see it. :P
