I was playing and plowing, and broke this almost new MM hub... I installed a used WARN, they look a little different inside. I plowed for 6 years in my '83 1/2 ton without a problem with much better tires, I forget which brand hub. Thoughts?

Watch and listen at 2.25, or really bad at 2.55...

Chunks below top picture. It seems only 25% contact area. Busted one on the right, used WARN on left. The cover for the MM didn't fit the WARN.

I see lots of grease that shouldn't be there. Greasing the locking hubs can prevent them from working correctly. Regardless, go Warn or Go home. :D

I second the Warns. But...if you can find some, I've found that a set of Spicer hubs to be almost bullet proof. However they take their time to engage/disengage. Actually I'd take the set of Rough Countrys (do they still make hubs?) over a set of Warns. I had MM's broke one, swaped to Warn Premiums, broke one of them. Put the RC's from a parts truck in and haven't looked back. That was 3 years ago.

Here's a message I got from a guy in Florida... I'll copy and paste it... (sic) >>>

>>> i use to work for mile marker in florida and i can tell you Warne makes a far better product then mile marker can ever perduce...... but when you pay your employes crap like mile marker does and hire them form day labor to make your parts what do you expect i use to put the cables on the winches and i had to do 100 a day minimum with no incentive to make more and did it for 6.65/h usd so stick to the Warn parts you will be better off <<<

>>> nope my uncal worked for them under contract to do a bunch of user manuals and he had to take them to cout to get his check after he was done and the sad thing is they make the winched for the humves the military uses and there junk they use cast alumium planatarys and plastic bushing there more metal in a coke can then one of there products i think and nope i dont know him but the poor guy should be ashamed to work for them but a pay check is a pay check out of cueriosity did he speak english?? <<<

So I just crunched the rite hub, and MM sent me the "junk" parts to fix them. But I'm gonna' put on the WARN hubs I bought here...
But onto topic... I was looking at a friends catalog, he just started a new job at an accessory shop. The WARM Premium hubs blurb says more contact area... etc... Does that mean the cheapo hubs are weaker? Seems like it! Now I know why the Premiums are so desired.
So now I need some I guess... I have the "plain" WARN's on my 1/2 ton. 5 years of abusive plowing, and never a prob. Now I know why...

Anybody got some used ones? And are my cheapo plastic, non chromed ones cheaper internally?
