Went junk yard hoping today and pulled this alt. from a 96 chevy cavalier 4cylinder like I had read on here. I did make sure it had the mounts at 6 and 12 like my current 10si.

Got on here doing some searching and most all threads show a 4 pin rectangle plug, but the one I picked up has a 3 pin/wire oval plug? I'll try to attach a pic from my phone, but can anyone help advise me on how to wire this one up?

This is how mine looks. It's dark and pics suck, but second one showed a connector from CS130 to old style plug in case I even need to put an old style back on

What did you get it off of?

Looks like a Denso unit, import

A 96 model cavalier like you said you had got one from in the thread on Tues or Wed. I made sure of the 6 and 12 positions for the mounting bolts, but apparently I goofed on the correct wiring. Hopefully the junkyard I got it at is open tomorrow where I can take it back and look for the correct style.

See if you can get one like the pictures above.
Sorry for the confusion, but I don't know the last time I saw a ND alt on a GM car

If it mounts up, and has the amperage you're looking for, just find the wiring diagram for it and find out which wires do what, then patch into your existing wiring accordingly.

I did this with my '86 dually I had awhile back, I put in an older motor from my old wrecked Nova, had old style alternator and belts, installed a serpentine setup with the cs-130 style alternator, found out which wires did what and wired accordingly, all worked fine. :D

Since I have a week before I can get back down to the junkyard I got it from I will do this, also helps my cousin has a manual on 90's cavalier's that he says has a wiring diaghram in it.

Really glad I spent the extra $4 for the warrenty if it turns out I can't use this thing. :haha:
