I have a Suburban with a 6.2 that is locked up, not sure exactly what year can check this afternoon. I found a local guy that has a 6.2 from a cucv that he will sell me for 200$. My question is....is it a direct swap into the civilian 'burb? I know there may be some minor things to swap out. Such as starter, alternator, but what else? Sensors, glow plug stuff?

I'm familiar with the military versions since i was an Army mechanic but not sure how much change between the two.

I think you have named all of the major differences. Basically anything electrical. The long block and intake are the same. Alternators, accessory brackets, starter, glowplugs were all different between CUCV and Civi. Possibly even the relay in the IP, but I'm not sure off the top of my head.

After finding this file elsewhere and then as a sticky here and doing other research. I have found that the only change I will have to make to put a cucv engine in the civilian burb is the starter and accessory brackets. Everything else is 12v. The hummvee is a different bird as it has a hydraulic fan clutch and 24v solenoid on top of ip but a quick swap to a 12v cover fixes that. So should be an easy swap! I was able to get a cucv engine for 200$!

The glow plugs are the same. They are 12v. I'm no electrical engineer, but there is some sort of resistor in the cucv that drops the 24 volts to 12. If you lose a glow plug the voltage increases and you risk losing more glow plugs.

You are correct. There is a resistor mounted in the middle of the firewall that steps it down from 24 to 12v on the cucv.

The intake is different. I believe it's lower, or taller or something to do with the air filter housing and clearance issues. You need some type of spacer. But I think that's only if you have a "civillian 6.2" and swapping your intake for one out of a cucv.

Good thing is no more EGR for you :waytogo:

The hummer intakes were different...but the cucv ones should be the same, just lacking the EGR.

Yeaaaah boyeeeee. That's the truth to my lack of memory holding capacity :D
True for the hummer intakes, I had to get some HVAC stuff.

Some sheet metal screws and fuel line split to seal it up. That raised it up to stock height.
