I currently have a CUCV blazer m1009 and i love the damn thing but i've stumbled across an ambulance CUCV with the ambulance box removed and a steel flatbed put on it instead...really missing having a truck around so i'm tempted. I've read over and over that the pickups are dogs with a top of speed of around 55 or so, being doggish doesn't bother me much but how much could i bump that top speed up with larger tires (at least 35's if not 36 or 37's). Really looking for an all around rig to haul stuff, do light towing in a pinch, mild to moderate wheeling, as well as do the 20 mile commute to work and back. The blazer is handling the commute no problem but i'm almost afraid to wheel it because of the weaker axles and it's not much good for hauling stuff so i'm kinda stuck here wondering if the pickup wouldn't be better for me with some mods. Any input is much appreciated!

Buy the truck, and get bigger tires, you can go 65MPH with 35" tires easily, you can actually do it with the stock tires but you will be pulling highrevs which means low MPG numbers.
The truck is way better than the Blazer except for having more room inside for people hauling, if you don't need that get the truck, no contest.
