I just replaced the fuel injector pump on a cucv and have an even worse problem then i started with. The truck will start up... every now and then, run stong, then just shut off in about 1 minute. It doesn't spudder off, just a clean shut off like you turned it off yourself. I've check my mechanical fuel pump... working great, I've drained and bled out the fuel filter, then checked the output side of the fuel filter.. lots of pressure, but when i crack the injector lines on the injectors i get nothing. Even took a line all the way off the injector and only get a few little drips of fuel. I've pulled the vent tube off the top of the injector pump and get a good initial squirt from the pump with the "flutter valve" is initially activated when you turn on the ignition, but once you begin to crank the engine over you just get little tiny barely even a squirt from it.... Only thing I can think is that I got a bad injector pump. Any other ideas?? Oh, the initial problem was the truck had absolutly no acceleration, would take about 10 minutes to finally get started up in the morning when it was cold, and would occasionally just quit untill the engine got warmed up good.

Bad pump is a good guess. Don't you have access to the military manuals? If not go over to steelsoldiers.com and download the manuals for your vehicle. There are several tests you can do to check out the IP. Fuel solenoid is probably one of the first I would try.;)

yeah.... i've got all the manuals... but over here we don't usually tear into parts like that, just find the problem, and replace the part... rebuilding them is someone elses job, lol. the -20 and -34 manuals both seem to point to the injector pump... but my next step in the 34 is to remove the pump and recalibrate and all that.. but it if that's the case, we'd just change it out, and send it in to have that stuff done... just want to make sure that's the only thing it could be
