I've been looking for a decent 6.2 powered truck for awhile and I found out about this m1008 cucv close to me and called the guy a couple weeks ago, he wanted 3800$ for it, I thought it has to be in pretty good shape for that kinda money, when he emailed me pictures I was startled because of how the trucks been lifted and he was telling me it could be "drivin home" in the auction it doesnt show how he lifted it, his custom spring mounts are pretty nasty looking, I still have the pics of them, if anyone wants to see them PM me with your email addy.

just thought I'd give yall a warning, I didnt want anybody here to get screwed

heres the ebay link:

I see a shackle flip in the rear...and the auction states he installed a steering block. The shackle flip kinda looks like the echobit shackle flip...which doesn't scare me at all.

Does not look like 8" of lift.

Beyond that I can't see the problem. If you have scary pic's of the guys suspension post em up.

cant, not a paying member, the front spring mounts are a complete hackjob with beautiful booger welds. I have nothing against this guy I just dont want anyone getting suprised when they go to pick it up.

*edit* and he informed me over the phone that he custom made the lift and shackle flip

Looks like a weird shackle angle and bad pinion angle!

yup, 6.2s and 6.5s are in fact Detroits, IIRC. Powerstrokes are International too.

I knew about ford diesels being internationals but i thought 6.2's and 6.5's were corporate motors:confused:

post up pics of that thing. doesnt look that scary, but i agree the angles are horrible

The 6.2 was a detroit project, then GM developed the 6.5, and now GEP (owned by AM General) builds the 6.5's.

hope these work:

eww... id still buy it though. i have enough parts to fix it all:crazy:

yea, theres nothing "unfixable", but still, this stuff should be listed in the auction dont ya think? whats up with the sway bar? come on man just take it off

you can't take the swaybar off. it is what is locating the front axle. It looks like a shackle jammed in the front spring mount. it's fixable but should definitely come home on a trailer.

I think that "shackle" is a drop spring hanger abortion. :eek1:

I see what you mean though :haha:

the swaybar centers the axle???? I took mine off my burb and didnt notice any diffrence, but its just a 10 bolt, I'm pretty sure alot of other people dont run swaybars either

A sway bar doesnt center an axle, hes saying the way that that truck is setup it need the bar to hold things in place.

A swaybar does not laterally locate a leaf sprung differential. It does what it sounds like it does.....contains body roll (sway) The leaf springs do the locating all by themselves. I've never had a sway bar on any Chevy I've ever owned....except for my last '86 K30 crew cab but it immediately went into the trash.

A trac bar lateraly locates a diff in a coil sprung 5 link suspension. just like the front end of my '98 Dodge.

or in the case of a leaf spring with shackles on both ends of the springs, it locates the axle...
