Are cucv's really dogs? 42 sec 0-60

acording to banks diesel (cant post urls)

are they worth 4-5k for a near mint one or should I keep looking? seems like these people think they have gold when really there is nothing to these trucks, just stripped down.

Well it depends on which cucv you mean, the blazer cucv m1009 or the truck m1008? The trucks came with the covetted dana 60 14 bolt combo and both usually are sold with low mileage. They might not be the fastest vehicles around but 42 seconds sounds really slow.

Getting ready to sell mine.....you want it?

Depends. I would certainly drive one before buying it. I guess being a dog is relative. They are kinda peppy up to 45 mph. Someone said recently that they should be able to break a tire lose (spin) in gravel from a standstill. I guess mine will do that.

It's nice to have injection and not have to worry about carberator stumbles or stalls. And it's torky down low. The 4.56's and the NP208 2.6 to 1 ratio is nice in 4Lo.

You won't pass many people in it though, and you won't pass anyone on an incline.

Was considering getting a Banks last week. Read one post that a Banks Sidewinder makes the 6.2 like a slightly warmed 350.

I will say that mine get great gas mileage.

a little to far im in ct

what price range should i expect for good running cond? near mint?

that 0-60 number is b.s.

not sure what the correct time is, but it's more like 10 seconds

I looked up the Banks webpage and it does list 42+ seconds for 0-60 mph, but specifiies it is towing (who knows what, maybe 15,000 lbs.). I don't know what the average 0-60 time is when empty but I feel pretty confident it is only a fraction of that number.

Back when my '90 K5 was mostly stock (6.2/700r4/3.73/32" tires) I never had any issues keeping up with normal traffic flow at stop lights, and being a heavy-foot teenager at the time usually was the first off the line........of course again the others weren't racing but if 0-60 was indeed 42 sec. you would have a hard time just keeping up with normal traffic from a light with it floored.
