Anybody here in the National Guard? Do they still use CUCV's and do they still stockpile GM parts?

Just wondering if they or the Army might still have some and maybe auction off or sell those caches if they use them anymore...:dunno:

I actually located a Government vendor and they sell genuine GM seals and weatherstripping for the CUCV's but they want like $200 for one simple little door seal...

The government still has CUCV's but not a lot and the numbers are dwindling. Back in the 90's they were selling off perfectly good trucks that were "surplus to requirements" left and right. In '98 a friend bought a M1009 Blazer for $500 because no one else bid against him at DRMO in Pensacola, FL. 3x,000 miles, great shape, former MP truck with radio brackets, antenna mounts, light bar, etc.

Then the war happened...and they realized they were still useful...but they had gotten rid of a lot of them...so they hung onto all the good stuff and only got rid of the crap.

Now it's all getting replaced and the last ten years have been hard on them.
Meanwhile the parts are getting dumped on the market. This is why you can buy a whole CUCV 10 bolt axle for silly cheap basically NOS in the crate. Problem is some vendors know what they have and know that NOS GM parts are worth more than generic aftermarket crap while others don't but just look at the original Government price (way to high in 1984-1988) and try to get 90% of it now.
A lot of the surplus places are on crack and/or clueless.

What place are you looking at?

I wish there was a place around here I could score a set of new injector lines for my 6.2,that wont cost more than my truck is currently worth..................searching online I have found only a few places selling any, most have only the #3 and #6 cylinder ones, and one place that had the correct ones for a 6.2 are now "out of stock" and want you to pay 225 bucks for a set that is for a 6.5 diesel, that "fit with tweaking"............................................................................................If I had 200+ bucks,I'd be searching for a straight six to swap into it and ditch the diesel--I'm not really enthused about diesels after owning a few--they are great in ways, and suck in others.......but there aint any of those straight sixes around any more either--searching CL,I see very few available and none for under 300 bucks--they are hens teeth now...................................................................................................a guy I know I ran into yesterday told me he just GAVE AWAY a 250 six he got from a '67 Nova wagon he's restoring--it had a clifford research header, intake and cam,and a 4 bbl carb too....:doah:...if I had seen him 2 weeks ago,it'd be in my truck already....:(....my truck is getting to the point its barely worth the effort or expense to bother fixing any more...no one but ME would probably bother keeping it running....

Do you need a clean rust free set of injection lines for a 6.2?
If you cover the shipping I will give you a set.
I also have a set missing one line if you need individual lines, I thin the one I am missing is number 5, but I can check.
Let me know. :thumb:

Holy High prices Batman! $65 for a used tail light lens?!

I grabbed a front axle for my truck in the crate nos for 300$ from a surplus store in Pennsylvania last fall. It was 150$ for shipping. Far easier than changing ball joints, bearings, and u joints. It was complete all the way out to the hubs including brand new rotors pads and calipers.

Unfortunately there are some smaller parts that seem to be more expensive. The blackout lights, arctic stuff, radios and antennas all seem to be top dollar.
