CUCV to drool over on Craigslist

So what is the gearing and the top speed?

search cucv tug . been coverd a lot here.

Yep, crazy low gearing, no suspension to speak of, and axles that are pretty much worthless in any other application. Top speed is reallly low, like 10 mph.

Still cool though.

Lol makes a good rock crawler or mud bogger? Is that guy ****ing high? That thing weighs a retarded amount and goes like 9mph. :haha:

As stated above those have been discussed on here quite a bit and there is also a long thread on Pirate4x4 talking about them.

I won't guarantee this 100% but internet rumors say the axles are something like 20:1 and the NP208 transfer case is locked into 4 low. Even converting the t-case to run in 4 high just the axles alone would be equivalent to a doubler always running low-low with 5.13 axle gears in a normal truck.

Also as stated above there is really no suspension. The axles have a pivot in the middle (ala front axle on farm tractors) with rubber jounce stops on each end, so all they really do is pivot slightly.

Once you ditch the front bumper and the "bed" there actually not that heavy, covert the t-case to run in high range ,throw some 54" tires of your choice and some actual suspension and go wheeling

And for what the guys asking you could sell the bed and front bumper for scrap prices and make your money back

The axle ratio is 22:1. The front bumper is 1/4" plate and concrete, the counterweight behind the cab is also plate and concrete. They started out as a 2wd Chev and had the 6.2/th400/208 swapped in.
