So, I plan to build my 96 Cummins powered Dodge Ram 2500 into a NMRO mud racer (gave up on the sled puller idea, too much of a hassle) that will also see dirt, sand, and pavement drag racing use.....any of you guys run Class 2 or Class 3 in the NMRO?? cause i would like to see your rear leaf suspension setups, Being that my truck's front is a 4 link from the factory it should be easy to setup, im thinking 3 inch lift 1/2 ton coils to help with the weight transfer, it should set stock but should really plant the rear tires when i drop the hammer on the skinny pedal, I know i will be running a set of 7 foot ladder bars for my traction aid on the rear, i just want too see how you guys set your leaves up (soft or hard), wether you are running bump stops or not and all that type of stuff.....I'm open to ideas......This should be fun once i get the 800-900 ft-lbs of torque on tap......Oh the truck will be ran as light as possible, every piece of steel that isnt needed will be removed......I think i should be able to get the truck down to less than 5500 pounds, i think it weights about 6500 right now......It should be fun......

Heres the top drag fullbody truck from last weekend at Costrol raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. Mike Drever from Medicine Hat, Alberta 3rd gen dodge. ran a 9.93@142 / 9.94@140 / 9.78@142mph

actually now that I secured the diffs out of that '06 F450 at work. I think I want to turn my dually into a puller. the Dana Super60 front and D110 rear might be the ticket without having rockwells. 4.30 ratio is ok I guess for a starting point.

I am not a diesel guy so...... Could someone guesstimate a dollar amount to make the kinds of mods necessary for an oil burner to run like that?

I'm guessing somewhere between $4500 and $7500?

you can make 800-900 ftlbs in one of those P7100 12v by accident. set your goals higher man. :haha:

I know how much they will make, Ive got one p-pump truck and 2 VE trucks, I'm also going to drive this truck on the street so I dont need over about 400 horsepower......It will get me put in jail if Im running anymore than that, cops wont think its funny when i blow th tires off the thing at a 20 mph roll from a stop light......I get stupid with too much power on tap......Thats why I didnt build a blown 500+ inch big block mopar for my 77 dodge dually, cause it would get me in trouble.....

The Drever's have built a really good running CR truck, They were in the Diesel power Challenge in 2008.....I think its the fastest diesel 4x4 truck currently running right now.......

Demon you better plan to pull the Super Street or Mod class with those axles......1 ton or less drivetrain in the WS, 2.5, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, and Limited Twins classes.....Super and Mod are the only two allowing big axles, trust me, I already got into this with the NADM's head tech......My pulling truck was outlawed before I even built it......Super Street your looking at a 20-25K engine, If you got to ask how much the Mod class is going to cost then I would suggest not thinking of running it......put it this way, some of the guys are turning 6000+ rpms and are using billet steel aftermarket blocks at 12K a pop......

Jimmy to run that fast in that truck your looking at about 35K+ then add in the cost of the truck......7-8K for a full billet tranny, about 15-20k for the engine, then the rest of the supporting parts.....

now ya know I was just playin there right......

thats what I've been trying to find out about is does the diff swap bump my truck to unlimited or what. we've got a governing body here Alberta Tractor Pullers association.

but their website doesn't really identify to what I'm doing. we're not as blinging in AB on pulling as in the states. its still a young teething sport here. theres no billet block 6k rpm machines in western canada.

NADM, NHRDA and most of the other sanctioning bodies only allow big axles in the Super Street/Super Stock/Modified classes because the other classes are 1-ton or less, and if you want to run in any of those 3 big classes you better plan to wear your big boy pants to that party, cause its big dollars, I wanted to run a 37 spline Dana 80 out of a 87-97 F-Superduty Ford and was told I couldnt because it came from a bigger than 1 ton truck BUT I could spend 3K+ dollars on a set of forged Scheid Diesel 37 spline axles and spool ......

the question was never about money. it was about what defines what classes.

I know all about pay to play.
