I originally planned on putting a 468 big block in my 88 K5. However the other day I was working on a dodge diesel and was thinking about using that instead. I was wondering if anyone has done this, what's involved, and which cummins is used (12 or 24 valve)? Thanks

check out the diesel forum here you will find lots of info.
the 12v is what is usually used as it is mechanical. there is an adaptor that can be used to bolt to a gm auto, but many go for a nv4500 or the dodge autos, if the adaptor is used, it will canter the engine 10degrees or so.

there are a few guys on the board who have done it and im sure they will chime in here, but if not search is your friend, you could also post in diesel section to ask for advice and info.

much is involved in the swap, good luck and have fun researching.

He's not a member, he can't search:(

So buy a membership:D

Lots of people have done it. Look in the Diesel section as suggested. There is a fairly recent thread.

Usually it's the 12v as the 24v is computer controlled but both are possible.

i would really love to do this swap in the future, but for now i don't have the money and its my dd for now so i cant afford the downtime.

you definitely should post a build thread here if you decide to do the swap.

you really ought to buy a membership as this site's search function and members will save you a hundred times what it cost in the long run.

but for now here is the how-to thread
