Cummins VS Duramax...Powerstroke nah!

My DMax guru buddy told me a chip and intake should solve the overheating problem for the most part.

Do NOT waste money on a $$$ replacement intake system to help with OH issues. The OEM filter has been proven to be the best out there. Go to Coolmydmax.com for a simple flap to seal the airbox to the inner fender for a cooler air source. A mild 'tow' tune will help to lower temps somewhat due to timing changes, but beyond that you'll quickly start going the other way under load.

If you have the opportunity, look at the cooling stack between a LLY and a LBZ. Mother GM did a whole bunch of stuff to address the OH issue, yet they buried their heads in the sand when we LLY owners would complain about the problem. At one point, over on dieselplace.com, it was estimated it would cost GM about $3,000 per truck to convert the stack to LBZ spec's. No wonder they didn't want to address the problem.

Again, if you don't tow heavy, or live out here in the southwest, you'll probably be fine. But unless there is a big price difference, I'd still look for an LBZ.
