cummins weight

I have heard there just under 1000 lbs for the CTD :eek1: . the block is realy thick. I have a 2005 Cummins 4X4 dually and it is REAL front heavy.

Friend of mine bought one out of a wreck. Came to him whole and complete on a pallet, engine only. Shipping weight (including pallet) was 950#

lol so basically the ctd is a light truck engine. and into the mid range a bit too.

a 3208 weighs 1200

and the 3116 weighs in at 1500 :D

and imho the 3116 would work weight wise. how many people run a bbc/ctd and have a custom (read as heavy) front bumper with a winch adding more weight to the front end? hmmm how much does a winch weigh? i know they are not light. :D also as a side note i have known someone locally (used to know anyway) that installed a bunch of 3208's in 1/2 ton chevys.

you can fit the bellhousing between the frame rails?

the 3208 cat v-8 conversion used a bellhousing from something like an old diamond rio. then he modified the bellhousing slightly to bolt it to the 465 transmision in the truck. so I would have to sav yes it did as he built several and I saw one that he drove. ;)
