Our house has what I call "roll-off curbs" across the front including the driveway. Not sure if I'm calling them by the correct terminology, but it looks like this:

My mom has a little Scion Xb and it hits the air dam coming off the curb. The wife's van will sometimes also, usually when it's full of people. I was thinking I had seen little ramps in the gutters at other houses. Anyone have any experience using something like that?

Yeah, old piece of scrap wood.

They must be taller than normal, I've had them for years (last 3 houses) with multiple lowered cars so I'm use to it. You have to hit them on a angle though, if you back straight off the curb you'll hit the front nose.

Maybe that's the problem, she needs to come out at more of an angle. But I do think they seem kinda on the tall side. Hitting it straight on with the C10 it's a heck of a "climb" even with 31" tires.

That's what we did the last time, I just don't want to have to be there to do that every time she leaves.

Get ahold of your developer and alterman, and bitch. Have them cut down.

I can barely fit a finger between the air damn and the sidewalk on my challenger, I just know to take it slow and it's fine.

agreed, that's a PITA

Haha, I am the alterman - we are "trustees" in my town. They aren't doing driveway cuts anymore due to wheelchair/scooter access.

Your statement doesn't make sense.
Your not cutting concrete ndue to wheelchair/scooter? One would think it would be be need to lower for that reason??

I never said anything about removing them.....:doah:

I wouldn't leave junk like that out front, plus it will block water from draining down the street.

it's code out here, squared curbs are a thing of the past in residential neighborhoods.

The sidewalk has to stay level across the driveway. Can't be like the "old days" when the driveway was at an angle the met flush with the gutter. They don't want the sidewalk interrupted with a dip down into the driveway plus the driveway being at an angle as opposed to mostly level.

Needs to let debris pass underneath it. Cheap way would be concrete with a length of large diameter PVC pipe. No one would steal it and to clean it out just shove a hose through it. Might need to get an easement permit though.

I was thinking it would need to allow gutter flow and/or be removable if it's causing a flow problem

I deliver to neighborhoods where every house has something similar to this.
I was thinking that if I ended up getting one it would be interesting to see how many neighbors followed suit.
