anyone have any good custom bumper ideas for an 87' K5, im this close to buying one but stock bumpers a kinda ugly and the front one is wrecked anyway. i just need some started ideas like what tubing to use and design shape. im gonna probably need a rear spare tire carrier swing rack, and on the front i want a reciever hitch for manuvering our boat into the tight spaces of our side yard. id also like maybe a pre-runner style fron with a few extra lights, just has to be strong enough to push a boat, 25' not sure of weight its a ski boat around 6,000 lbs maybe?

Do a search on the subject and you'll be busy for a long time, also check readers rigs and venders show case. See ya in about a year, HAHA!!!

I have a bolt on receiver that I use on the front of my cousins ford 150 to move boats around our parking lot. It is just a 5/8" thick L shape bracket that mounts with 2 bolts and a spot for a receiver ball, works awesome and has never been a problem.

Check out SEC. They make some nice stuff. You should be able to find a link from the product review section.

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!!

With mine I've pushed around a couple of boats and some commercial Generators.... No problems so far.... used the front to pull out a couple of friends when they we're stuck.....
You can look at it @ http://home.earthlink.net/~craigmoe/ I do have some drawings of it in AutoCAD & SolidWorks if you want copies, I'll see if I caan find them.....

I was going to wait till I had it on the truck but I'm bobbing 4" of the frame rails in the back and putting this on

its 6"x2" square tube (it's only 8th", it should be 3/16th")

clamped and welded
you'll have to excuse the welds I was spanning some gaps from the torch. If I was going to make bumpers or do more steel work I would buy a vertical band saw
I'll post another pic after its painted this weekend /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tim, does this mean you are back in business and taking orders? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, I can take orders, have been making bumpers for the last few months. Been doing it through the e-mail thing to keep the volume under control. Someone needs something just let me know. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Dont give up on me Butch, I still want to order the front hybrid and then a rear bumper. I have to spend my $$ on gears first /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Your bumpers are worth every penny IMO /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I built a rear bumper for another member that came out really good.
Webshots
Take a look, it may help you out. I use 10" "C" channel and bend up the ends. The material I use is framerail sections from Freightliner thrucks. I have a contact there that gets me the fall off form when they cut the rails to length. I'm building a set (f/r) for another member right now that are a bit fancier. Look for future posts. Hope it helps.
