I expected no less about those "boxes" :haha::haha:

I couldn't find anything out here they'd fit in, and it was gonna cost $50 to buy boxes and have them shipped here so I said F that and made some from cardboard from the Safeway:thumb: I knew they weren't going to get damaged, but I figured they wouldn't send them bare or I might have just tried that...

I know this is an older thread, but is anyone still making/selling anything like this? Saw a guy on another forum made a mold with fiberglass but haven't been able to get a reply from him.

Still looking....have a Softopper I'd like to use this summer but don't want to drill windshield.

I believe z71 just made 'em out of extra material he had laying around and was just making them to help out the brotherhood. I ended up just mimiking his and bp71k5's designs and made one an automotive body class I took at the local community college. If you have access to a welder the design can be pretty simple to copy and I recommend giving it a try. I had never welded anything last year when I bought my rig and was able to make the bracket and have since put a few thousand miles on mine.

Haven't heard of anyone here or on the other board making them out of metal...just the already mentioned thread about a fiberglass one.

If I can be of any help answering any questions about how to do it, let me know, but good luck on whichever route you choose to take!

Yeah I just had enough steel left over to make a few and sent them off to a few guys. Super easy to make. I just used a cardboard template. Cut it out, make a few bends, weld the ends together and drill some holes for the snaps and factory hard top holes. Took a couple hours but totally worth it to not drill into the windshield frame.

Thanks guys but unfortunately I am not capable of making something like that. Will keep trying to get in touch with the guy making the fiberglass pieces.

Look into Sponsoredbydad's version. He made his without doing any welding. Maybe you could do that?
