I have two "parts" trucks- 1976 3/4 ton long bed and 1974 1/2 ton shortbed

The long bed is in decent shape- needs one fender and the motor is shot

The short bed has a running motor but the frame is cracked- actually torn most of the way- but the motor runs and the rest is ok

I would rather have a short bed trail rig- do you think it is easier to modify the long bed to get the short bed on it
OR
weld and plate the frame on the short bed?

What do you all think?

Trucks did a short bed c10 that was built from a long bed c10, and they cut the frame. Seemed like it was pretty simple to do, then they added a fish plate to the internal portion of the frame to strengthen it. The problem is that 4x4's have to have a lot more flex than you would get on a 2x, so I don't know that it would be a good idea.
