Anyone have pics of cutting the radio hole so a modern single din unit will fit?

As in the actual cutting itself or the finished product? There's lots of pictures on here of folks who have done the swap.

There are templates available for it. You basically just mark out the cut and whack it out.

Do a search in this forum. Not much too it really, mark and cut.

I did mine on a 88 K5. I used the frame/holder/ sleave chinga for the head unit to trace and a roto zip to cut the hole. nerve racking but easy enough. just be sure to back away from the caffine before you do it :)

sorry been away for awhile...i did a complete write up on it with pics and all but can't figure out how to post on this site as it exceedes the size allowed...but if you will PM me your e-mail address I would be willing to send you the document...it is in pdf format...let me know..

meanwhile if somebody on here can let em know how to do it I would be glad to post it

I am interested in this too. All I could find to cut the hole was a portable jig saw i'm borrowing from work but I dont have very much confidence in it. So far it just vibrates the hell out of the dash. Thinking of maybe using something mounted to a drill or some kind of dremel thing.

i sent you a pm...

the dash panel is thin...if you have a good pair of sheetmetal snips you can use those...or a dremel works well to...or even an air grinder...that is what i used and then snips to make the corners..

if you use a air grinder or dremel...make sure you put some card board or wood to protect under the dash wires and componets from flying flaming hot metal pieces
