My only question is can you cut 5140 chromoly shafts with a port-a-band? Will it cut them? My friend works at a machine shop but I dont wanna wait on him cause it will take a while. I wanna wheel tomm. and there gonna be here this afternoon.

Give it a shot. I am guessing that you got some of the extra long spline units and just need to cut to fit.

I would think that a porta band would do okay. At least blades are not real pricey in the event that you f#!& one up.

yeah they come made to fit certain lengths and you have to cut them to match your stock axles.

Think I'm gonna try. It beats grinding them down with a cut off wheel.

use a very fine tooth blade and cut real slow and use some kind of lubricant. even wax is better then nothing.
