cutting up my truck

So I’ve got a 1991 jimmy with an HD 44 front and a 60 rear, I’ve already dove tailed it, which I might add was a bad idea. But anyway since the tub is already cut up I was thinking about 45ing the rockers. What I was think was to notch the side and weld in a peace of square tubing, then cut off the rest and weld up a floor. If anyone has done it and can give me some advice that would be great.
