So i bought this rear cv drive shaft for my 84 blazer with a np208. I noticed that the splines don't go all the way to the end of the slip yoke. Is it ok to run it like this?

Not really usuable if you ask me , the threads...er splines oops don't go all the way , and you won't have a safety margin of engagement when you droop the axle .

Looks like a Caddilac rear wheel drive shaft yoke to me .

Best bet is to get a driveline shop to build you a new yoke with full splines. That one is going to allow the splines to slip at full droop. As pauly said it is a Cadillac rear wheel drive shaft yoke, and they didn't need the full travel that our trucks need.

I'm not trying to argue with Pauly and lectric here, but I've been running that type of CV shaft in my K5 for over 4 years now with no problems. I've beat that crap out of my K5 and it hasn't failed me yet. But I'm only running a 2 1/2" lift also.

Better safe than sorry.

The cost to have it fixed correctly now will be less than the damage that is caused when it comes apart later if you run it.

im running that style shaft in mine. the shop had to search to find that piece also...that's how my stock one looked too. don't know why, but sure enough...every one i have seen is like that.
