Anyone know if there are any actual differences between the cvcu axles and Dana 60, 14 bolt besides the gear ratio and locker?

They are basically the same as civilian axles.
And its cucv. Might help your search terms.
The only difference is the traction devices.
84 k30 vs 84 d30.

rear 14ff
civilian / civi = gov-loc unit if traction device was optioned .
cucv / military = detroit locker for traction device .

front dana 60
front civilian / civi = open diff
some truck used for service work like a m1028 got a light duty trac-loc posi up front . there not as heavy duty for offroad use and big tires as a power-loc unit .

otherwise just order parts for a 1985 k30 and you will be safe .

Axle shafts-inner and outer where of smaller dia on a 1ton 60 than the ones we took out of my CUCV.

if you had around a 81 or older 60 then they are called early 60's and neck down shafts . and all gm outer shafts are 1.31" 30 spline . inner is 35 spline .

military got non-neck down shafts . unless someone has been in there .

Refer to the dana 60 bible and 14 bolt bible on pirate. All the info you will need.

Differences (lack there of) have been addressed above
