d44/10bolt steering arm stud ?\'s

i went down to a local 4x4 accessory store the other day to see if they could get me in another set of the longer steering arm studs for the 3in block. they said they couldnt, no problem, i say i can just get some grade 8 ones through work, the guys says you dont want to go grade 8 on those, they need to be grade 5 so they can stretch grade 8 will crack? is this true? or can i use some grade 8 ones? also he mentioned just using bolts instead of studs, is this a safe option? would like to know as soon as possible truck is almost road ready!!! thanks chris

JMO i would use a Raised steering arm instead of a block... Longer bolts=More leverage=easier to break.

about the grade 8 thing, ive also heard this from credible people, we werent talking about that steering arm, but same kinda idea. Find a place that can make studs, and have them make you some....

well i guess i should have mention that is for x-over steering, i already have an arm, was thinking of getting my block machined down to 2in or just get a new one made, i have to clear my leaf spring i am planning on installing a custom 2in zero rate, but thats another story! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
